New Project: Organic, Warm Contemporary

A Warm & Luxurious Kitchen Refresh: White Oak, Marble, and a Statement Hood

There’s something extra special about being invited back into a former client’s home, especially when the project is a kitchen makeover that’s about to go from “nice” to jaw-dropping.

This project was especially exciting for us because we had already worked in this kitchen once before. Back in 2019, we completed a smaller facelift—upgrading the space with a fresh, bright palette featuring white cabinets, white countertops, and crisp white walls. It was absolutely an improvement from what was there originally, and the kitchen served the family beautifully for years.

But as we all know… tastes evolve, families grow, and sometimes a space just starts whispering:
“It’s time.”

And this kitchen was ready for a full glow-up.

A Floor Plan That Finally Matched the Lifestyle

This renovation was not just about finishes—it was about function. The clients worked closely with local architect Brett Taylor to perfect the layout before we stepped in, which gave the project an incredible foundation.

The goal?
To expand the kitchen footprint while maintaining a relaxed and seamless flow into the dining room.

Instead of moving walls or completely reinventing the structure, the design solution was smart and strategic: by relocating the pantry and a bulky storage closet, we were able to carve out space for two major additions:

  • A built-in breakfast nook
  • A gorgeous new butler’s pantry

And of course… the floor plan star of the show:

A Large Kitchen Island

Because no dream kitchen is complete without an island that says,
“Yes, we host.”

This island not only adds serious prep space, but also gives the kitchen a natural gathering point—perfect for everyday living and entertaining.

From Bright White to Warm & Earthy Luxury

Once the floor plan was finalized, it was time for our favorite part: bringing the dream to life through materials, color, and texture.

In the previous design, the kitchen leaned heavily into a bright white palette. While timeless, the clients were ready for something richer—something with warmth, depth, and personality.

This remodel was all about:

  • Warmth

  • Luxurious natural materials

  • Unexpected earthy accents

  • A design that felt elevated, but still relaxed and livable

Basically… a kitchen that feels like a boutique hotel suite, but functions like a hardworking family hub.

White Oak Everything (and We’re Not Sorry About It)

To bring warmth into the space, we leaned into one of our favorite materials: white oak.

We selected white oak cabinetry finished with an opal glaze coating, which softens the grain and gives the wood a subtle luminous glow. It’s cozy, refined, and feels incredibly custom.

For the flooring, we chose wide plank white oak. It’s not an exact match to the cabinetry (and we didn’t want it to be). The slight variation adds dimension and gives the kitchen a layered, designer feel.

Wood tones have a way of making a space feel grounded and timeless—like it has always belonged there.

The Marble Moment: Statuario Countertops with a Soft Edge Detail

For the countertops, we found the most stunning Statuario marble slabs—and honestly, we could stare at them all day.

The movement of the rich gray veining is bold, but also incredibly calming. The veining almost feels like artwork… soft, flowy, and tranquil.

To complement the marble, we selected a demi bullnose edge detail. It’s effortless, elevated, and just a touch unexpected—more refined than a standard square edge, but still clean and modern.

It’s one of those details you don’t always notice immediately… but it makes the entire kitchen feel more high-end.

A Kitchen That Feels Timeless, Modern, and Completely Custom

This remodel was a total joy from start to finish.

With the clients’ trust, we were able to take creative risks, blend unique materials, and bring in unexpected textures that resulted in something truly special.

The final design is warm, modern, organic, and elevated—filled with timeless choices that will age beautifully for years to come.

A kitchen that feels luxurious, but still welcoming.
Refined, but never stuffy.
And above all… a space designed for real life.

We couldn’t be happier with the result—and we’re so grateful to have been invited back to create the kitchen of their dreams.
